About the Artist:
Johnnie R. Vaughn is an abstract artist working in acrylic and mixed media. His work incorporates layered surfaces, textured fields, and acrylic skin techniques to create compositions that explore material and process.
Vaughn currently lives in Central Texas and is a member of the Creative Arts Society in Austin. As the owner of Abnormal Noise Artworks, his practice embraces irregularity, fragmentation, and controlled unpredictability as core elements of its visual language.
Vaughn’s eclectic style is shaped by a wide-ranging background of life experiences. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and has worked with developmentally disabled adults and troubled youth. A retired military veteran, his experience spans from operations in Panama to working with nuclear systems in Cold War Germany. He has dealt in antiquarian books and manuscripts and now collects vintage trumpets. Vaughn currently works part time as a contract auditor for international standards in quality, environmental, and safety management systems, supported by a Master’s degree in Quality Management and prior experience as an EQH&S Program Manager in the technology field.
