About the Artist: Steven DaLuz (b. 1953) is known for figurative works and imagined landscapes, using a process he devised with metal leaf, oil, and mixed media. Born in Hanford, California, Steve enlisted in the Air Force in Jan 1972, during the Vietnam era. He served for 8 ½ years as a medic in Greece, Texas, and Arizona, earning state and national certifications as an EMT, and serving as a first responder to military and civilian personnel. After completing a BA degree through night school, he was accepted into Officer Training School in 1980. He served the next 16 years in Texas, Maryland, Korea, Florida, and Ohio as a squadron section commander and information management officer. As a 2nd Lieutenant, he completed an MA degree in Management. After serving nearly 25 years, he retired and moved to San Antonio, where he returned to UTSA to earn a BFA in 2003. The next chapter would see him engaging his life-long passion as an artist. His work is in private and corporate collections in 37 States and overseas. He has exhibited internationally, and has been published in art books, and magazines, such as Art in America, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, The Huffington Post, Encaustic Art, Professional Artist, the International Drawing Annual, and The Artists. He is a guest curator for Poets Artists magazine, and digitally-stored copies of 12 of his paintings are included in the Lunar Codex scheduled to be launched to the surface of the Moon in 2024. A finalist for the 2015 Hunting Art Prize, Best of Show in the Bold Brush painting competition in 2018, and listed in Buzzfeed’s "100 Figurative Oil Painters Working Right Now (2020)", DaLuz served as President of the Board of Directors for the Coppini Academy of Fine Art and he is represented by AnArte Gallery in San Antonio, Texas.
